The House That Jack Built
In a comedy and terrifying atmosphere, this film pursues Jack, a failed architect who winds up in the murdering. He turns into a sequential executioner through a gathering of orderly killings that he did flawlessly and figured out how to cover his confirmations. He describes his story from the earliest starting point going through the reasons that drove him to this terrible way.

One of von Trier's most confrontingly horrible films is also one of his weakest.May 25, 2018
An empty provocation, The House That Jack Built aims for profundity but achieves only mild queasiness.May 15, 2018
Lars von Trier is a stupid, arrogant troll and, when the mood strikes him, a reasonably talented filmmaker. But there are only a few moments in "The House That Jack Built" in which his stupidity doesn't entirely overwhelm and negate his talent.December 07, 2018
This is a very dark comedy and one with great moments of horror. [Full Review in Spanish]December 10, 2018
The House that Jack Built, despite the panic that arose in its wake, is pretty much von Trier's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, a reckoning between a public persona and the person beneath it.December 07, 2018
If von Trier is instead merely content telling a sick joke - and the soundtrack, including the repeated use of David Bowie's Fame, suggests as much - it leads to a punchline we've all heard before.May 17, 2018
It's...like von Trier is arguing with himself, locking us into a debate between his ego and his self-loathing, his confidence and his self-doubt.December 10, 2018
This film chooses to eulogize the abuser, which is a troubling side to take - even in art.December 05, 2018
It may be the blackest pitch of pitch-black comedies, but to take it too seriously would be an oversight.May 15, 2018
Dillon might have trouble putting this one at the top of his resume if he wants to do a Disney film, but there's no question he delivers an impactful movie monster, with darting eyes and a toothy smile that makes Jack at once seem empathetic and bonkers.December 06, 2018
A work of complicated, violent, hilarious art.May 15, 2018
As a longtime admirer of the director's work, I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but the most shocking thing I found about The House That Jack Built is how tedious it is.
